Assigning access to individual members in a dimension
- Click the Definition tab.
- From the Dimensions drop-down list, select a secured dimension.
- From the Hierarchy drop-down list, select the appropriate group or hierarchy.
- Clear the All Members in Dimension check box. The assigned security access for the members in the Member pane is removed.
-
In the Members pane, select the member or members to which you
want to assign security access.
Note: You can use the Search Members function to search for specific members.
- Select the security access to assign to the dimension. You can select Read and Write, Read Only, or No Access.
- Under Include Related Members, select the appropriate option. The Include Related Members options enables you to you make member selection dynamic, by relationship, instead of static. Selecting members by relationship means that new descendents, etc. are automatically included in the security profile when they are added later.
-
Optionally, you can use
Include Selected Member
option to change or omit the member on which the relationship is defined. This
enables you to apply a different security access for the top level member while
maintaining the member relationship.
Option Description Self Selects only the highlighted member. No descendents are selected. Children Selects the highlighted member plus all its children. Children are members that are immediately below the selected member. Descendents Selects the highlighted member plus all members below the selected member Siblings Selects the highlighted member plus all members at the same level, regardless of parent. This option is valid only for flat dimensions. Leaf Nodes Selects the highlighted member plus every descendent that is at the bottom of its branch. You can select multiple members using the CTRL and Shift key combinations. The members selected must be within a single hierarchy.
- Select the member on which the relationship is defined.
- Select the access options.
- Click Save.
-
Repeat the previous steps as necessary. You must select at least
one member from every dimension or the security profile is not valid.
As you save the security settings, the background color of the member name indicates how the security setting was derived. A dark blue highlight indicates security was set directly on that member. A light blue highlight indicates the security setting was derived from a relationship with another member. You can determine where a security setting was derived by selecting the member in question. A message is displayed in the legend.
