Positioning and customizing the gauge title

Gauges are typically shown in a small window that does not leave much space for a title. By comparison, charts generate an automatic title by concatenating the names of selected off-grid members. This cannot work for gauges due to the space restriction. Therefore, automatic gauge titles are defined as the name of a single, user-selected gauge member. If that member is set as its dimension's active member, the gauge title changes whenever the dimension's active member changes; if that member is set as a constant member, the gauge title does not change.

If you want a gauge to display a predetermined title that does not change, you can apply a constant value. A constant title overrides the automatic title coming from the gauge definition. Additionally, titles can be turned off.

To specify a custom title:

  1. On the Style tab, in the Annotations group, select Title from the Annotations list.
  2. In the Text box, specify the text to use as a title.
  3. From the Position list, select the position for the title:
    • Hide
    • Top
    • Top Left
    • Top Right
    • Bottom
    • Bottom Left
    • Bottom Right
  4. Click Save Changes.

Deleting the text in the text box restores the automatic gauge title.
