Model creation
The Model Builder Wizard provides a streamlined process, through a series of web pages, resulting in a CPM model that is integrated with the standard navigation and View Manager. The Model Builder can build a sample or custom model.
The Model Builder Wizard gets structure information from a source system that contains specifically named tables or views, and then, optionally loads and consolidates data from the same source system. The Model Builder Wizard performs these tasks:
- Creates the database.
- Builds the model.
- Imports the structure from a source system using a predefined configuration file and predefined views such as PM_VersionView and PM_YearView.
- Loads data from the same or alternate source system using a predefined view named PM_AmountDataView.
- Consolidates data.
The Model Builder can load structure and data into the model from a source that is integrated with CPM. If the source is not integrated with CPM, then you must use the Import Wizard in Architect to load structure and OpenLink to load data. See the Infor CPM Platform Support Guide for information on integrated sources.
To start the Model Builder Wizard, in CPM Workstation, select
.To open or create views and reports for the model immediately following completion of the Model Builder, database connection information requires that a login or user, respectively, exist in the database server for the user who is running the Model Builder. If it does not, the Model Builder can successfully run using the database user. But additional users must be added to the database, user security must be assigned and the model structure must be released before accessing the views and reports. Additionally, if you use Windows integrated security, you must change the End User Authentication option to Integrated for the model data source before accessing views and reports. You update the data source from the Manage Data Sources page.
Once the Model Builder completes, you can open or create views and reports for the new model.
