Workflow
This section provides a high level view of the workflow for the Approval process.
Begin by reviewing the workflow from the perspective of how account information is collected. For budgeting, are all accounts budgeted as part of a single group that needs to be managed together? Or are there logical groups of accounts that need to be managed and approved in different stages? An example is budgeting sales revenue detail information as a group separate from expenses and balance sheet accounts.
There are four main tasks that must be completed in order to implement the Approval process. They are:
- Add an approval schedule and schedule lines to the database to track the approval status. An approval schedule line is defined for each logical group of schedule lines or accounts that are processed together through approval process.
- Add the views for
controlling the Approval process as well as data entry views. The views are
used to:
- Specify data
- Submit data for approval
- Approve and reject data
- Review status
- Administer the process
- Extend OpenLink to support the Approval process.
- Add the data entry and administration pages.
