Adding data point labels
A data point is a single charted numeric value that is the intersection of a series and a category. For example, an individual bar, an individual pie slice, an individual point on a line. Data point labels are additional text labels placed above or next to data points.
There are three formats of data point labels. You can use none, one, two, or all three in any combination.
To add data point labels:
- On the Chart tab, in the Series group, click the dialog box launcher.
- From the Series list, use the arrows to select a series.

Select the format for the data point labels. Choose from:
Option Description Value Select this option to display the numeric value of the data point. Percentage of Select this option along with the option if you want the data point labels to show the ratio of the data point value to the sum of all values in its category. Select this option along with the option if you want the data point labels to show the ratio of the data point value to the sum of all values in its series.Series name Select this option if you want the data point labels to show the name of the series to which the data point belongs (the same name as appears in the legend). - Click .
- Click .
You can change the font and its attributes through the Element tab.
