Enabling scheduling

To enable scheduling the evaluation of alert exception you must setup a special user capable of adding entries to the Windows Task Scheduler. Before setting this up if you attempt to use View Manager to save a view with a scheduled alert exception the view is saved but you will receive an error message indicating that the Windows Task Scheduler entry could not be created. Also when saving a private view the view is saved but the Windows Task Scheduler entry is not created but in this case no error message is displayed. In both cases the alert exception will not be evaluated because no entry exists in the Windows Task Scheduler to evaluate it.

To setup this special user, your administrator must first identify an existing user or create a new user on the server that is capable of scheduling and deleting tasks on behalf of the CPM users in the Windows Task Scheduler. This user may need to be a member of the Windows Administrators group on the server. This user must be given the "Log on as a batch job" right and must not be included in the "Deny log on as a batch job" using Local Security Policy.

To do this:

  1. On the server computer, go to Administrative Tools > Local Security Policy.
  2. Expand Local Policies > User Rights Assignment and add the user to the "Log on as a batch job" policy. Also, verify that the user is NOT included in the "Deny log on as a batch job" policy.
