Selecting a drill down mode

There are three drill down modes. A default mode is set when the view is created but the user can change the setting. Drill down mode is set by dimension. For example, the Schedule dimension can be set to member select, the Unit dimension to drill and replace, the Period dimension as drill.

To select a drill down mode for all dimensions:

  1. On the Dimensions tab, in the Properties group, select the drill down option from the Drill Mode list.
    Option Description
Drill Double-clicking a header cell containing a parent member expands to display the members' children. Double-click the header cell again to contract the grid. If the cell member has no children, the grid does not expand
Drill and Replace Double-clicking the plus sign next to a header cell expands the dimension to include the parent and its children. Double-click the header cell containing the parent member again and the children disappear from the grid and are replaced by siblings and grandparents of the parent member.
Member Select Double-clicking a header cell opens the Member Selection dialog box. The Member Selection dialog box enables you to select the members you want to show.
Disabled Disables all drill mode options. The user cannot expand or contract the grid.
  2. Click Save Changes.
