Category

The Category dimension is an optional custom dimension associated with one or more schedules to enable intercompany data entry users to categorize account information such as tracking data by product line. For all other processes, the Category dimension behaves as an Other dimension; meaning it applies to all schedules.

This dimension type identifies schedule line amounts at a greater level of detail than the schedule line.

You can define as many category dimensions as you need and associate one or more of them to individual schedules. Data on those schedules are then specified by category member in addition to unit. Arrange each category dimension hierarchically to create rollups within the dimension. For example, you can budget by product line or by distributor. You can also use a category dimension to assign different exchange rates to a particular member.
