Setting up a data source

The first step in setting up drill through is to define a data source. The process of adding a data source is described in the "Server administration" chapter.

When defining the data source, select the appropriate generic relational database type, either Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server.

If you are only drilling through to one source database or have a main source for drill through, use PMSourceViews as the data source name. This simplifies the process of setting up drill through on reports because if a data source is not specified for drill through, CPM looks for PMSourceViews as the default data source and drills to that data source.
