Manage Data Sources
The Manage Data Sources page enables you to see all the data source connections within the application. The page shows this information:
- Data source name for each connection
- Connection type
- Database name
- User name that last modified the connection through this page
- Date and time stamp of the last modification made through this page
CPM supports multiple data source types. Three are specific to CPM:
- CPM Relational
- CPM Views
- BI OLAP
Three are generic data sources:
- Microsoft Analysis Services
- Microsoft SQL Server
- Oracle
The Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle data sources are used to support drill through from a CPM model to source detail provided by ERP systems such as Infor XA or Infor Syteline.
When defining a data source, the Administrator User Name must have access to all dimensions and members in the model. In addition, for Analysis Services databases, the Administrator User Name must also belong to a role that has Read definition permission.
When defining a data source to connect to source journal detail, the data source is given the generic name PMSourceViews. The drill through interface automatically uses this name. The drill through data source can have any unique name, but using PMSourceViews enables you to take advantage of default behavior.
The user name and date/timestamp fields are empty if the connection information was modified outside of this page.
Clicking the
button updates the list of data source connections.Detail information

Showing data source names
Data source names starting with these special characters (@, =, +, and -) are displayed with a preceding single quote. A single quote is added as a prefix to data source names that begin with these characters.
This addresses security concerns and ensures that the specified values are interpreted as data and not as formulas.
