Best practices
- Use CPM to create a workbook
with all the required data. Once the data is there, you can use the Report
Builder tools.
- Use the Report Builder
documentation and tutorials.
- Use the smallest taxonomy
that accommodates all your tagging requirements. Using the full US GAAP
taxonomy is usually not necessary.
- To change the sign for a
cell, use the Instance Editor in the Details section to modify the scale. Do
not modify the data in the cell.
- When validating, always use
the filter selection to exclude the CPM special sheets (CSXLStore in View-Based
workbooks, or GeacAnalysisCodeSheet in CBR workbooks) from scope.
- When previewing, always
first set the options to filter out the CPM special sheets from scope.
- When saving, always exclude
the CPM special sheets from scope.
- Excel Services View-Based:
- When in design mode,
make sure to protect the range that you are tagging. This enables the tagged
status color coding to persist.
- Be careful about
modifying the original view. Schedule lines added or removed will move in the
workbook automatically, but the tags remain linked to a specific cell, not a
schedule line.
