Changing the Merged Period Year parameter
You can merge the Period and Year dimensions or separate them by CPM Relational data source using the Merged Period Year parameter. The Merged Period Year parameter can help streamline the process of creating reporting views. Having a separate Period and Year dimension is generally preferable for year comparison reports. A merged Period Year dimension is better for rolling forecasts.
OpenLink, the Approval process, worksheet lines, and launching a local consolidation from a data entry view do not support the Merged Period Year parameter.
The process pages rely on the MergePeriodYear setting in the database. The data source for the process pages must match the value specified by MergePeriodYear or the process pages will not work correctly. The value for MergePeriodYear database parameter is set by the Model Builder. The Model Builder sets the database MergePeriodYear setting for the models; sample models default to a merged period year.
To change the Merged Period Year parameter:
- Open the Manage Data Sources page.
- Select the CPM Relational data source and click .
- Expand Advanced Parameters. The current setting for the MergePeriodYear database parameter showsr Merged or Unmerged. Click if you do not see the MergePeriodYear parameter.
- From the Override with list, select Merged or Unmerged. This overrides the database setting.
To return to the database setting, select No Override from the Override with list.
