Period Hierarchy
The Period Hierarchy page enables you to:
- Select a period hierarchy template.
- Select a fiscal year start month for hierarchies with 12 periods.
- Select how to display the Period and Year dimensions.
Selecting a period hierarchy template changes the display at the bottom of the page to show the member name and number of members in each level. This enables you to start from a template and make adjustments to better fit your needs. If you make a change in the lower section, the Select Hierarchy Template list changes to Other.
Selecting Other from the Select Hierarchy Template list enables you to design the Period dimension to fit your requirements. For example, you can have week, quarter, semi-annual, and total year periods. You can have days, weeks, months, and year as members. You can define up to four levels.
When you select Other, the default member name is Base with default number of 12. The base level must have at least one member. Click *Add New row option is enabled as long as there are less than 3 levels. To remove a level, click the icon to the right of the row.
to add a new level below the existing one. Once you have added a row, you can edit the number of members. Each level must have at least as many members as the level above it. TheOption | Description |

Specifies how to display the Period and Year dimensions. Having a separate Period and Year dimension is preferable for year comparison reports and simplifies year-to-year maintenance of the application. But a merged Period Year dimension is better for rolling forecasts. The default is to display Period and Year as separate dimensions. |
Opening Balance | Members based on the hierarchy template. This is a required Period member along with Total Year. |
