Using the Import Wizard
Knowing the basic steps of creating structure data and using the wizard is fundamental in importing database structure. However, reaching the full potential of Architect's import functionality requires an understanding of how to leverage the way that structure data and the wizard work in concert with the requirements of each dimension.
This section highlights examples of techniques you can use to get the most out of using the Import Wizard with the absolute minimum amount of structure data needed to achieve the desired results. The goal is to introduce ways you can reduce the preparation work needed for import.
In addition to summarizing best practices for each identified scenario, this section contains examples to show some of these best practices:
- Importing new hierarchies into shell databases
- Specifying a default hierarchy during mapping
- Defining a hierarchy in the structure data (by defining either the hierarchy or group name)
- Importing structure data into the Schedule dimension
- Adding members to existing hierarchies
