Using the Export Wizard

The Export Wizard creates text files and configuration files from an existing CPM database structure. Database structure is typically exported to transfer it to another CPM database. When exporting a database structure, an existing CPM database is scanned for structure information. That information is gathered and compiled into configuration files and text files. These files can then be imported into another CPM database.

Export files use the name of the CPM database from which they were exported. The files are saved to the Generated_Files directory.

  1. Select File > Export Wizard.
  2. Click Next.
  3. Make selections in the Export area of the screen.
    • Specify whether the database structure should be exported into a single or multiple text files. Export into multiple text files is selected by default.
    • Specify the row delimiter.
    • Specify the text qualifier to use.
    • Specify the column delimiter.
  4. Select the database structure to be exported in the Connect To field.
  5. Specify the user name and password.
  6. Click Next.
  7. These guidelines are best practices, particularly for working with the resulting text file in Microsoft Excel. In the Export tab of the Choose Source Database screen:
    • Set the Column Delimiter field to semi-colon or something other than comma.
    • Set the Text Qualifier to double-quotes.
  8. Complete the export. If the export is not successful, click View Log File at the bottom of the screen to view information about any errors. After troubleshooting and correcting any problems, try exporting again.
