Step Up
This action type enables the user to step the position up a specified number of steps. This action is based on the Step and Grade Schedule and updates the current rate. This action type will track the increase in salary which results from a Step Up. Salary will never decrease because of a Step Up action.
When this action is applied, a number of steps must be specified. The value must be equal to or greater than 1.
End dates are not allowed.
This action type is only available if Step & Grade is enabled.
Example
Assuming an even monthly spread method (Period's Spread Factor/Total Spread Factors) = 1/12
Number of steps to step up = 1
Step 1 Salary = $12,000
Step 2 Salary = $12,600
Base FTE = 1
Step 11 Hourly Rate = $10
Step 12 Hourly Rate = $11
Base Hours = 40
Pay Periods = 52
This is the calculation rule for a salaried position:
(New Step & Grade Salary - Current Salary) * Base FTE *
(Period's Spread Factor / Total Spread Factors)
($12,600 - $12,000) * 1 * (1/12) = $50 per period
This is the calculation rule for an hourly position:
(New Step & Grade pay rate - Current pay rate) * Current
Base Hours * Pay Periods* (Period's Spread Factor/Total Spread
Factors)
($11 - $10) * 40 * 52 * (1/12) = $173.33 per period
