Position attributes

This section describes the position attributes included in Workforce Budgeting.

  • Active Position. This attribute indicates whether the position is active or inactive. If you make this field inactive, it is automatically set at active for all positions. This attribute is optional.
  • Allocation. This attribute is only required if allocation dimensions are enabled.
  • Annual Hours. This attribute is used to calculate hourly and salaried pay. It defaults to the global setting but can change for position definitions. This attribute is required.
  • Annual Pay Periods. This attribute is used to calculate hourly pay. This attribute is required. This attribute defaults to the global setting but can change for position definitions.
  • Base Rate. This attribute is the default pay rate associated with this position. If no pay rate is specified in the position assignment, then the default pay rate for the position is used to calculate pay. When assigning a new position, the base rate populates as the pay rate (which can be later modified by the budgeter). The base rate for the position can start at 0.0 and can be left at the value. When the position assignment is made, the rate defaults to 0.0 which the budgeter can update.
  • End Date. This attribute is used in calculations and specifies the end date of the position. No data is calculated past the effective end data. This attribute is optional.
  • Grade. This attribute is used to select appropriate pay rate for calculating pay. This attribute is required only when step and grade is enabled.

  • Position Note. This attribute is used as free form text fields to include notes about the position. Notes are not used in calculations or to apply actions. This attribute is optional.
