Load Definition

The Load Definition tab is the first step in the import process. The load definition specifies basic information regarding the source data and type of load.

These are the tab options:

Option Description
Component Shows the previously select load type. For example, Allocations or Global Settings.
Load Name Specify a unique name for the load definition. You can specify up to 255 alphanumeric characters. This field is required.
Description Specify a description for the load definition. The description is shown on the Load Definition section of the Import page.
Source Select the source, either a file or a database table.
Processing Options Select the processing options. These are the options:
  • Clear and load
  • Insert with Update

The Clear and load option deletes all existing target data in the database table as well as any dependent Workforce Budgeting data before loading the file. Dependent data can include definitions, assignments and calculated budgets that reference the data being deleted. The deleted information cannot be retrieved. Clear and load is recommended for initial loading or reloading of the Workforce Budgeting module.

The Insert with Update option updates the existing records in the database table and adds new records. This is the default for a new load definition.

Clear and Load Version This option becomes available when the Clear and Load processing option is selected for these load types:
  • Position Definition
  • Position Assignment
  • Action Assignment
The Clear and Load Version option limits the workforce budgeting data to be cleared from the database and further limits the data to be imported from the source. By default, the All Versions option is selected.
  • Select All Versions to delete all existing data associated with the load type from the database and to load data for all versions specified by the CPM Member - Version field on the Column Mapping tab.
  • Select a version to delete existing data associated with the load type for this version. If the selected version is included in the source data and is one of the allowed loadable members, the import process loads the data for this version. Otherwise, no data is removed or imported.
