Adding an XMLA relational data source
-
Start the Datasource Wizard. For CPM/SQL Server or CPM/Oracle
models, ensure that the CPM Server is running.
-
Click
Add. The
Datasource Properties dialog box is displayed.
-
Specify this information:
- Datasource Name
- Specify the data source name.
- Datasource ID
- Displays the unique data source ID. In general, do not modify this
ID. However, if you delete a data source or change servers, any existing
workbooks using the deleted data source or previous server still require the
original ID. In this event, create a new data source and edit the ID to
match the original ID.
- Model Type
- Accept the default selection.
- Datasource Type
- Accept the default selection of
XMLA Relational.
- Allow data write
- Optionally, select this check box to enable writeback to the XMLA
Relational data source, SQL Server and Oracle only. By default, this option
is clear.
- Shared
- Optionally, select this check box. This option is selected by
default and makes the data source available to other users from the template.
If you want to create a private data source, clear the check box.
-
Optionally, you can set a data source to use member names instead
of descriptions (default) if inserting members in the cell-based workbook. To
use member names, specify
Captions=Names in the Extra Parameter box.
-
If you change a data source to use member names or descriptions
after users have inserted data, values will not show properly. To resolve,
users should insert the data again or manually update the MPCData formulas with
the correct member references.
-
Optionally, add a data source description.
-
Click
Next.
-
From the Connection list, select the appropriate CPM data source.
-
In the
Cube box, specify the CPM
data cube name. The main data cube is named after the CPM model, such as
CTrain_Data.
-
Click
Finish.
