Member selection

  1. Select a dimension from the menu. This option enables you to change members for all dimensions using the same dialog box.
  2. Select a hierarchy if multiple hierarchies are available for the dimension.
  3. You can select one or more dimension members by using one of three methods (a, b, or c). Selecting multiple members provides the user with the ability to change dimension members while working offline. Limiting the member selection to the members required for the plans provides maximum performance.
    • When selecting members for the Accumulation Method dimension, CPM on Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle, be aware that writeback is supported only for the Value member of the Periodic member of the Accumulation Method dimension. Writeback does not support year-to-date data.
    • When selecting individual members for the Period dimension, select the members in chronological order to ensure accurate currency translations for writable data sources.
  4. Select a check box or member name, select one or more options under the Members to Select group box, and click Add.

To skip levels, select the after skipping option and specify the number of levels to skip in the second spin box. When finished, click Add.
    • Optionally, for Hierarchical Dimensions only, a top down spread a value for a non-leaf member, such as North America, to its leaf members in the cell-based workbook, the dataset must include all of the descendants of the non-leaf member. You can individually select all descendants or choose any option that includes all the descendants. Selecting all of the descendants enables Insert Block to automatically create Excel Type 1 formulas for downfoots for that dimension. If you do not select all descendants, you must manually change the formula created by Insert Block to a downfoot formula. For more information, see "Dataset Does Not Include All Descendants".
  5. Double-click each individual check box. The added members are individually displayed in the Selections list box, followed by the word Self.
  6. To find individual members one at a time, specify the member name, or any part of the member name, in the Look for box, and click Find. To find all members with a similar character or string of characters in the member name, specify the characters in the box, select Find All from the Options menu, and click Find.
