Dataset does not include all descendants

If a value specified for a non-leaf dimension member does not immediately spread to the leaf members in the workbook, the dataset member selection for the hierarchical dimension may not include all the descendants. Make sure Self is selected and one of these options: All members below or Next level below.

If all the descendants are not selected for a particular dimension, Excel Type 1 formulas created with Insert Block will not be associated with the leaf members of that dimension.

In this example, the dataset contains all descendants for all hierarchical dimensions except the Unit dimension. In this case, some descendants for North America were individually selected and others were not selected. Consequently, when the Type 1 formula for cell B5, North America-Allocated Net Margin is analyzed, the formula shows links to the Schedule dimension leaf members but not to the Unit dimension leaf members.

In this example, the dataset did include all descendants for all hierarchical dimensions. The analyzed formula consequently shows links to both Schedule and Unit dimension leaf members.
