Generating a formula map
This is for Writable Data sources only.
By highlighting any Excel formula in your plan, you can build a writable, collapsible map that shows all the values that impact the calculated result all the way to the leaf level. More than just a report, a formula map enables you to write data back to the cell-based workbook or top down spread directly from the map. See "Top Down Spreading in the Formula Map".
As an advanced feature, the map can also compare two data values, such as Quarter 1 versus Quarter 2 results. The map shows a variance percent between the two values, and users can additionally top down spread from a variance, rather than top down spread from a calculated value.
Instead of showing variances, the formula map can show the sensitivity, in terms of fractions, of any source value, such as Returns or Discounts, to the calculated result, such as Total Sales. The sensitivity enables the user to understand more fully how a change in a source value impacts the result.
