Changing servers or specifying ports
The Excel Services cell-based installation provides default settings to point the template to the Excel Services cell-based code and the web service (CBRService) on the server.
If the template or an existing workbook needs to point to a different server at a later date, for example, moving from a development environment to a production environment, or if you prefer to specify a port or TCP/IP address instead of a server name, you can run either of two utilities to change the information in the workbook: Server Editor, for advanced users, or Server Editor Explorer, a utility with a user interface.
There are two versions of these utilities, one for original CBR
workbooks, as
.xls files, and one for CBR2 workbooks, as
.xlsm files. The utilities for the original CBR
files are located in the
\ComshareWeb\CBRWorkbook directory. The utilities
for the CBR2 files are located in the
\ComshareWeb\CBR2Workbook
directory. Any original
Excel-2003 based CBR workbooks, as
.xls files, can be updated to the later CBR2
workbook using the
UpgradeToCBR2Workbook.exe utility.
If you use Kerberos authentication, the workbook must point to a server name. It cannot point to a TCP/IP address or port.
