Inserting a member

  1. Click the Insert Members tab.
  2. Select a dataset.
  3. Select a cell on the worksheet where you want to insert a dimension or member name. Ensure that the cell address changes in the text box on the tab.
  4. Select a dimension from the menu. To select member, click the underlined member name that is displayed beneath the menu to show the Member Selection dialog box and select one or more members.
  5. Optionally, select the appropriate option to insert the dimension name and/or the unique name for the member. The dimension name is inserted at the cell address selected in step 3.

For an Across dimension, the member name is inserted into the cell to the right of the dimension name. The unique name is inserted one cell beneath the member name. For a Down dimension, the member name is inserted beneath the dimension name. The unique name is inserted into the cell to the right of the member name.

  6. Select the Across or the Down option to specify the desired orientation of the selected dimension on the worksheet. Please note that Across and Down dimensions can be used as either on-grid or off-grid dimensions.
  7. Click Insert to insert the dimension member and, optionally, the dimension name and/or unique name onto a worksheet. This creates a shell plan with no values.
  8. Optionally, format the shell plan using Excel formatting (see "Formatting the Workbook").
You are now ready to insert a value.
