Defining activation

If an activation rule is true, the decision is processed. Otherwise, it is skipped. If no activation is defined, the decision is processed. An activation rule is an optional constraint that you can add. For example, you have groups of rules that you want to evaluate only on certain days of the week. You can group those rules in a decision with the activation rule specifying the day of the week to evaluate the rules.

You can remove the activation rule by clicking Delete at the top of the rule. The decision is then always processed.

  1. Click the Activation tab.
  2. Optionally, select the Use Date/Time check box. If this option is not selected, only the activation rule is evaluated.
  3. Specify the start and end date for the decision to be active.
If you only specify the start date, the decision is processed only if the time of the event is after the start date. If only the end date is specified, the decision is processed until the event time is after the end time. At that point it is no longer processed. If both are specified, the decision is processed if the event time is between the start and end dates. If neither a start or end date is specified, the decision is processed according to the Enabled setting and the evaluation of the activation rule. You can turn off the processing of the decision by clearing the Enabled check box. When the decision is off, none of its facts are evaluated.
  4. Click Add activation.
