Enabling MFA for Alexa

You can enable MFA for Alexa in the Alexa Admin interface under General Settings. Depending on your MFA settings in IFS, you can receive either a push notification or be prompted to enter a password.

If MFA for Alexa is enabled and the device is registered for MFA, the authorization process is started using MFA Push or the Time-based One-time Password (TOTP). If MFA is not enabled on the device, this message is generated: Please enable MFA on your Mingle Account and try again. Emails to register MFA devices are automatically sent to all administrators.

If you have not enabled MFA for Alexa, a generated greeting or skill prompt is displayed. You can still invoke custom skills.

If MFA is enabled but MFA has not been set up on the device, you are unable to invoke custom skills without permissions. Attempting to invoke custom skills results in this error message: I did not find an MFA device. Please set up MFA before trying again.

To enable MFA for Alexa:

  1. Log in to Coleman DA with an administrator role.
  2. Select Coleman Skills > Menu > Alexa > General Settings.
  3. Select Enable MFA for Alexa to enable multi-factor authentication.
