Data-level security
Birst applies data-level security during data loading and when it automatically generates metadata. Space Administrators can secure dimensional and measure data by adding security filters to source columns. By using security filters at the individual column level, Birst can leverage uploaded username-to-value lists, for example, customer IDs, employee IDs, etc., that match Birst user names to only allow access to certain data values. Each column can have a security filter associated to it that only returns a constant or a queried list of values.
Both measure, fact, and dimensional columns can be secured. If a security filter is applied to a column that is targeted as both a dimension column and a measure, Birst secures both the attribute and the fact table that the fact is associated with. The configuration also tells Birst how to map a column in the application's meta data and in the Subject Area in the Designer and Visualizer modules.
