Using variables as default filter values for web pages

Birst variables, especially BQL-based variables, in combination with dashboard filters can support complex use cases. This is a simple example using a variable defined as a constant.

Note: You must be the space owner or Space Administrator to create a variable.
  1. Select Admin > Customize Space > Variables to create the Birst variable. Verify the variable definition matches a value or values in your data.
  2. In Dashboards Edit mode, click More Options and select a variable in the Use variable as default field.
  3. Specify the URL with a query string syntax.
  4. Insert the filter.
  5. Publish the dashboard to confirm the results.
