Linking to dashboards in email notifications

Use this procedure to copy a dashboard URL and include the link in an email. The recipient of the email is directed the dashboard if they are already signed in to the environment. If the recipient is not signed in, they are directed to the sign in screen and then to the dashboard.

Users that share your report or dashboard URLs must have access to the spaces where they are located. Users also must have access to Dashboards and Visualizer or both.

This feature is only available if users are authenticated using the Birst Login Page or the SP-initiated SAML mode (SSO). This feature is not available for Custom SSO (Single Sign On) authentication modes.

  1. Ensure that the user with whom you share the report link has access to ad-hoc (Visualizer) reports to open the report in Visualizer.
  2. You can share a direct link to a Visualizer report by sending the report URL in an email message. You must be in the Visualizer module to copy the URL.
  3. From the Dashboard menu, select the Link icon.

    A dialog box is displayed so that you can copy the Dashboard bookmark URL.

  4. Click Copy the URL.

    When the bookmark is copied, any filters that you applied to the dashboard are available when the user clicks the link that is emailed to them.
