Workflow trigger-based notifications
Notification creators can set a notification schedule based on a workflow trigger created in Orchestration. If the conditions of the workflow trigger are met, the notification you set the notification schedule to is triggered and sent.
See Workflow Triggers and Configuring workflow triggers in Orchestration for more information.
There are two types of notification executions for trigger-based notifications:
- Notifications are executed when the workflow trigger is initiated after the workflow's completion.
- At the scheduled notification time, if the notification's schedule is set to a trigger, the system retrieves the workflow associated with the selected trigger. The notification is only executed if the workflow’s last status is successful; otherwise, the notification is not executed.
Workflow triggers are activated and execute notifications under these conditions:
- If the entire workflow completes successfully, the trigger is initiated
- If only the final step of the workflow is successful, the trigger is initiated
When a notification set to a workflow's schedule is triggered, only the workflow’s most recent execution status is used. If partial steps are successful, the status updates to Success, and the notification is executed.
When executing a workflow with an associated trigger, more than one email is sent if the last step of the workflow is completed:
- An email confirming the workflow's successful completion
- A report notification email
