Workflow Triggers
In an Orchestration workflow, you can configure a workflow trigger that allows for any space to subscribe to a workflow's status in order to initiate the start of a notification for that specific space.
When you configure a workflow trigger and subscribe a space to the trigger, you can use that trigger for notifications in that space. Then, when you create a notification in Dashboards or in Space Management, you can set the notification schedule based on a workflow trigger for that subscribed space.
After configuring a workflow trigger, you can set a notification schedule based on a workflow trigger. See Workflow trigger-based notifications.
the workflow trigger is activated when the last step of the workflow is completed, such as:
- If the entire workflow completes successfully, the trigger is initiated
- If only the final step of the workflow is successful, the trigger is initiated
When executing a workflow with an associated trigger, more than one email is sent if the last step of the workflow is completed:
- An email confirming the workflow's successful completion
- A report notification emailNote: If multiple notifications are linked to the same trigger, all will be executed.
If the final step of the workflow fails, a failure email is sent with a note saying: "The workflow encountered an issue and failed. Any notifications linked to its trigger will not be sent."
After you configure a trigger for a workflow, Birst displays the number of triggers for that workflow under the Workflow Description. Birst also displays the number of triggers for a specific worfklow in the option from the Actions menu for that workflow.
You can edit existing triggers for a workflow by clicking the Workflow Description. Alternatively, you can select for a specific workflow to edit that workflow's triggers.
