Copying a space
You can copy the information from an existing Source Space to an existing Target Space. A space can be copied to use for testing, differentiated sharing, or other purposes.
For example, your co-worker shares a space with you, you can copy it and modify its reports and dashboards.
When you copy a space, the copy includes:
- All processed data
- Reports (private and shared)
- Dashboards
Note: Users,
groups, group permissions and memberships, data processing schedules, report
schedules, and color palettes for attributes are not copied. Additionally, Birst
does not copy the property
for a space to the target space. Any connection from the source space is removed when copied to a
new space.
When copying a space, note that:
- The default space size limit for copying spaces is 100 GB. Any space over the size limit cannot be copied. Contact your Birst representative to change your space size limit.
- You can use the copyspace
Administrative commands or the copySpace web service to copy a space
and specify the items to copy, including items that cannot be copied from the
Home page button.
- To copy Data Driven Dashboard conditions, you must include the "dashboardstyles" copyspace option.
- You must not be restricted from creating a new space. By default all users can create their own spaces.
- You must have access to the space to copy. This means that either:
- It is your space and you are the Space Administrator
- It is a space that has been shared with you
You can copy a space by using Orchestration or by duplicating the space in the Spaces panel.
