Manage Packages

A package is a set of metadata copied from a space and used in managed data mashups, when child spaces share a parent space. The parent space package of metadata is imported to the child spaces and augments the existing metadata in the child space.

This metadata can be put into a package:

  • visualization sources
  • dimension tables
  • measure tables
  • bucketed measures (when both the related dimension and measure tables are included)
  • variables
  • aggregates
  • custom subject areas
  • Dependent objects such as hierarchies and custom measures and attributes are automatically included

To modify a package:

  1. From Admin, select Space Management. Then select a space, and click Packages.
  2. Rest your cursor over the package to display information about the package.

  3. To modify a package, click on the package to navigate to the Modify Package page.
    ModifyPackages_Admin_SpaceMgmt
  4. You can use the tabs on the Modify Package page to modify the package.
From the General tab, you can:
    • View any dependent objects that will be exported by clicking on the View link in the Dependencies column.
    • Drag the objects you want to add in the package from the left panel to the table.
    • Drag objects back to the tree that you want to remove.
Note: When you select an object, Birst automatically includes any dependent objects, such as hierarchies, custom attributes, and measures.
From the Access tab, determine which groups in the space have access to this package.
    • The Access tab lists all groups for the space. The checked groups have access to the package.
    • Check or uncheck groups to add or remove access.
From the Usage tab, determine which spaces have access to this package.
    • The Usage tab lists all spaces that have access to this package.
    • Click Remove Space to remove access to this package.
    • In the child space's Packages tab, the package will continue to be displayed, but the status column displays Unavailable.
  5. To ignore the data security filters for the ETL processing in a child space, enable Ignore Data Security Filters. This allows you to use the dimension and facts from the parent space in the child space ETL scripts without the data security being applied.
  6. To delete a package, click the Actions icon, and then select Delete.
