Connecting with R Connector
R is a software programming language and software environment used for statistical computing and data analysis.
Birst provides a business friendly UI layer to leverage the powerful and sophisticated machine learning capabilities of R.
To integrate R with Birst you need an instance of R running R server. For information on setting up an R server instance, see Setting up R Server.
Create Connection

From Modeler Connect, create a new connection. This is done through either method listed below.
- Select the R Server connector.
- Click +Create New Connection and select R Server.

- Supply the credentials for the R Server. For information on setting up an R server instance, see Setting up R Server.

- Save to connect to the R server.
Configure Data Source Extractions
Extraction objects help you organize the extracted data.
- Select the connector from the Connections list.
- Click Select R Server files to view the available files to import.

- Browse and select R files and Download.

- You can apply R code to an R server file before importing by clicking More Options icon and then selecting Add/Edit "R" Code.

- Enter the R code and click Save when finished.

- Select Done to run the R Code.

- Click Import {Connector Name} Data to complete the import of the R server file to Modeler. Tip: You
can safely log out of Birst
while the extraction takes place and log back in later.
