Notifications overview

With Notifications, you can send regularly scheduled emails with an attachment of a single report or entire dashboard. Each notification contains a snapshot of the report at the time the notification is created.

You can access notifications through the Notification Center available in:
  • Space Management > Notifications
  • Designer
  • Visualizer
  • Dashboards
Note: Although notifications are accessible from multiple areas of the application, the Notifications form is the same in all locations.

Permissions and access

  • Space administrators:
    • can view all notifications created in Report Scheduler, Designer, Dashboards, Visualizer, and Dashlets
    • can configure report bursting and exception reporting
  • Notification creators:
    • can view their own notifications
    • can edit their own notifications
  • Non-administrators:
    • can view those notifications in read-only mode
    • cannot edit notifications they do not own

Editing notifications

You can create and edit Designer notifications in Space Management.

Notifications created in Visualizer and Dashboards are visible in Space Management, but:
  • they must be edited in their respective modules
  • Visualizer reports are scheduled through Dashboards

Enabling self-scheduling

To give users permission to schedule reports in Designer, Visualizer, and in Dashboards, select Enable Self-Scheduling in Group Permissions.

Notification execution and user account status

Birst automatically manages scheduled notifications based on the activation status of the notification creator’s account. This ensures that notifications are not executed for users whose accounts have been deactivated or deleted in CSP, while preserving the notification configuration in case the account is reactivated.

Deactivated or deleted account

When an account is deactivated or deleted, all scheduled notifications created by the user are skipped at their scheduled execution time. Skipped executions are marked with a SKIPPED status in the notification monitoring view.

This behavior applies to all notification types, such as:
  • Designer notifications
  • Visualizer notifications
  • Dashboard notifications
Note: Skipped notifications are not treated as failures. They do not count toward consecutive failure thresholds and do not cause notifications to be automatically disabled.

Reactivated account

When an account is reactivated:

  • Scheduled notifications automatically resume at the next scheduled run time.
  • No manual intervention, rescheduling, or reconfiguration is required.

Email sender domains

System-generated notifications from the internal domains, such as birst.com or infor.com are now sent from the new domains. The From email address in scheduled notifications is determined by the site type:
  • For Commercial sites, the sender address is no-reply@inforcloudsuite.com.
  • For IGS sites, the sender address is no-reply@inforgov.com.
