Modeler Relate

The Modeler Relate tab defines relationships between data sources for reporting and analysis. Use this tab to join sources, configure hierarchies, manage column properties, and build a unified data model that uses data from multiple sources.

On this page you can perform these actions:

  • Hierarchies

    Create and manage hierarchies for Enterprise spaces. Hierarchies support drill‑down analysis, custom time structures, and Slowly Changing Dimensions.

  • Manage Column Properties

    Modify column attributes, such as name, data type, width, and usage, such as attribute or measure. Add formulas or custom columns for calculations.

  • Source Properties
    • Override level keys for joins.
    • Set snapshot and transaction policies for full or incremental refresh.
    • Target new columns to hierarchies automatically
  • Define Grains

    Specify the grain of a source to set the level of detail for facts and dimensions. A correct grain definition supports accurate aggregations and query performance.

  • Relationships and Joins

    Join columns from different sources to combine related data. Modeler suggests possible joins based on column data types. Specify advanced join conditions, such as inner, outer, left, or right joins.

  • Inherited Sources

    Create logical references to existing tables without duplicating data. Use inherited sources when a source appears in several contexts, such as role‑playing dimensions.

  • Data Flow View

    View relationships and dependencies between sources in a graphical format
