External Databases

You can set up and configure defined clusters to use external databases for your data.

One supported external database type is Amazon Redshift.

When you create a new external database connection, Birst creates time dimensions. This takes a few minutes. During this time, spaces can be created using the connection, and data can be uploaded, but data cannot be processed.

To check if Birst created the time dimensions for a connection, select the connection and click Test Configuration to view the creation status. If Birst did not create the dimensions or if you need to recreate them, click Create time.

When you delete a connection, Birst automatically removes all associated spaces. The confirmation message displays the space names. When you modify a connection, Birst automatically updates the associated spaces.
