External databases

You can set up and configure defined clusters to use external databases for your data. One of the types of external databases you can set up is Amazon Redshift.

When you create a new external database connection, Birst loads and creates various time dimensions. This process takes a few minutes. During this time, you can create spaces and upload data using the connection, but data is not processed.

To verify if the time dimensions are created, select the connection, then click the Validate button. A message letting you know whether the time dimensions are still being created or have finished being created is displayed. If the time dimensions are not successfully created or you need to re-create them, select the connection, then click the Create Time button.

When you delete a connection, all spaces associated with that connection are deleted automatically. When you click the Delete button, the confirmation message lists the names of spaces that use the connection. When you modify a connection, the changes are automatically reflected in all associated spaces.
