Visualization Editor

The Visualization Editor enables you to modify existing reports, including reports that you create manually and reports that AI generates. Specify the change in natural language. The AI updates the report based on the requested change. You do not need to navigate through menus to adjust settings.

To access the Visualization Editor, perform these steps:

  1. Open a report in the Visualizer.
  2. Click the Visualization Editor button in the toolbar, or access it from the right panel.
  3. Specify the instruction in the Edit with AI field.
  4. Press Enter.
  5. If the result is not what you expected, type a follow-up command or undo the change.

Quick actions

The Visualization Editor panel shows suggested quick actions below the text field.

These are common operations you can click to apply instantly without typing:

  • Change chart type to column
  • Change chart theme to Strong
  • Display values in the chart
  • Show legend

Tips for best results

  • Be specific. Name the exact measure, attribute, or setting you want to change.
  • One command per prompt. For best accuracy, make one change at a time rather than combining multiple changes in a single instruction.
  • Use exact names. Refer to measures and attributes by their names as they appear in the left panel.
  • Rephrase if needed. If the AI misinterprets your intent, try stating your request differently with more specific terminology.

How AI-generated reports compare to manually created reports

AI-generated reports are standard Visualizer reports. After a report is generated, it functions exactly like a report created manually. You can save, share, edit, and add AI-generated reports to dashboards using the same tools and workflows available for any Visualizer report.

There is no functional difference between an AI-generated report and a manually created report after the report has been generated.

Keep these points in mind when working with AI-generated reports:

  • Results may vary slightly even when you use the same prompt. For more consistent output, provide detailed and specific prompts.
  • AI report generation uses the Default Subject Area. Custom Subject Areas are not used.
  • The quality of generated reports depends on the quality of your Data Model Descriptions. Clear labels and accurate descriptions help produce better results.
  • AI-generated responses are based on your data but are generated by AI. Always review and verify the information in the resulting report before using it for business decisions.
Note: After generation, you can further refine AI-generated reports by editing them manually or by using the Visualization Editor.
