Method Selection for Analytics Agent

The Method Selection for Analytics Agent menu determines which method the Analytics Agent uses when generating queries. This is configured separately because the Analytics Agent may benefit from a different method than other AI features.

To select a method:

  1. Click Method Selection for Analytics Agent.
  2. Select the required method.
The change takes effect immediately for new Analytics Agent queries.
Note:  Analytics Agent V1 provides the best balance between speed and accuracy for most agent-based workflows.

BQL generation instruction

Use the BQL Generation Instruction field to specify rules, business context, and guidance that the AI uses when it generates BQL queries for the workspace. The AI receives the instructions that you specify in the BQL Generation Instruction field with each user request.

Examples include this information:
  • Specifying default filters. For example, filter results to the current year unless the user specifies a different time period.
  • Defining business terms that the AI cannot identify from labels and descriptions.
  • Specifying rules for combining or comparing measures.
  • Clarifying terms that have a specific meaning in your organization.

Writing effective instructions

To add or edit instructions:

  1. Select Admin > Space Management > GenAI settings > Instructions
  2. Specify the instruction in the BQL Generation Instruction field.

The change takes effect immediately for new queries.

    Note:
    • Always filter the results by the current year by default if not specified.
    • When users ask about "revenue," use the [Sum: net_sales] measure, not [Sum: gross_sales].
    • The fiscal year starts in April. When users say "this year" without specifying calendar or fiscal, assume fiscal year.
    • Include only active products unless the user specifically asks for discontinued items.
