Setting up an Agent with Birst AI Tools

You configure Birst AI tools in the Infor GenAI Assistant platform. Create or edit an AI agent, add the required Birst tools, and specify instructions that define how the agent uses each tool.

  1. Sign into the Infor OS Portal.
  2. Select OS > GenAI.
  3. Open the left side panel and select Factory > Agents.
  4. Click + Add to create a new agent, or select an existing agent to edit.
  5. Specify an Agent Description: explain what this agent does and what data it works with, for example: "This agent answers analytics questions about sales data using Birst. It can discover available measures, generate and execute queries, and create report links."
  6. Specify Instructions/Task Control: provide workflow instructions that tell the agent how and when to use each tool, for example: "1. The workspace ID for Sales is abc-123-def. Use this for all tool calls. 2. When the user asks a data question, first call SearchSpaceSubjectAreaContent to identify relevant measures, then call GenerateBqlQuery followed by ExecuteBqlQuery. 3. If the user asks to visualize results, call CreateReport and return the link as-is."
  7. Add Birst AI Tools. In the agent configuration, select Tools.
  8. Select Birst Gen AI MCP Service.
  9. Select the tools you need based on your use case. For more information, see Available Tools.
  10. Click the Save icon.
  11. Test the Agent. Select GenAI > Chat.
  12. Select your agent.
  13. Test with sample prompts to verify it responds correctly.
  14. Refine instructions based on the results.
