Linked Filters

Parent/child linked filters are similar to parent/child filter groups. A logical hierarchical relationship between the filters is not required.

When you use linked filters, note these points:

• When the business user selects the parent filter, it filters the result set of the child filter. This approach helps to narrow down the choices in a child filter.
• A child filter can have more than one parent.
• Linked filters support query filters only.
• You can use embedded filters, standard filters, or both in linked filters. A standard filter can link to an embedded filter, and an embedded filter can link to a standard filter.
• A date picker filter can be a parent filter, but a date picker filter cannot be a child filter. A child filter is affected when the parent date picker uses one of these operators: =, <, >, <=, >=, not equal, is not missing. Range filters, such as between and outside, are not supported for a parent date picker filter.
• A slider filter can be a parent filter, but a slider filter cannot be a child filter. A child filter is affected when the parent slider uses one of these operators: =, <, >, <=, >=, not equal, is not missing. Range filters, such as between and outside, are not supported for a parent slider filter.
