Connecting to Cloud Application Data Sources

Note: This example uses connections to Salesforce.com. These steps can also be used to connect to other cloud applications.

Each cloud application has its own log in requirements, depending on the application.

Before setting up a cloud or database connection, make sure that you have the login credentials for the application or database. For example, a Salesforce.com connection requires a secret key password.

Note: When you create a new space, make sure you have all the login information you need for your cloud application. See Connection Requirements Reference for details about different connections.

To connect to cloud applications, do the following:

  1. Navigate to Modeler Connect.
  2. Select the Salesforce connector or click + Create New Connection and select Salesforce from the Select the connector list.
If you are connecting to an external data source to upload or connect to source data, you must download a Birst Cloud Agent. After the installation, run the agent. For more information about installing and running the Birst Cloud Agent, see Installing Birst Cloud Agent.
  3. After establishing your connections, you can edit the connected objects. Select only the desired objects and/or applying filter conditions to return a subset of the data contained in those connected objects.
  4. Specify a connection name and the cloud application credentials. Clicking More options allows you to specify if the connection is a Production or Sandbox environment along with a source prefix.

  5. Click Save.
After you save the connection to the cloud application, a preview of the data is displayed for a data source.

After saving your connection, Modeler accesses the connected application and returns the list of available tables.
