Time Zone Shifting

For some implementations, certain data files may contain timestamps that do not match the space's overall time zone.

For example, some applications actually store timestamps in GMT, but present the information to users in an accepted corporate time zone such as EST or PST. In some cases, you may want to leave such data as is and load it without any time shift. For other cases, Birst provides the ability to transform all datetime fields in a file to a pre-defined space (or corporate) time zone using a space property called Processing Time Zone.

Note: For those sites migrated post the 2023.08 maintenance window, Birst has adopted the Infor standard that establishes the Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) as the time standard. The Processing Time Zone uses UTC and so, using functions like NOW and NOWDATE are impacted by this change. If you have not changed the Processing Time Zone default setting in Space Properties, then Birst uses UTC for the time standard. See KB Article 2303325 for more information on this change.
