Configuring S3 Data Sources

  1. Select the Amazon S3 connector from the Connector section or click the existing Amazon S3 connection from the Connections panel.
  2. Click Edit to select the tables and columns for the connection.
  3. Select a bucket from the list of buckets that you have access to in S3.

  4. After you have selected your bucket, select the files from the bucket you want to download.

Note: Enabling Download Modified Files Only downloads files that have been modified since the last extraction only.
  5. If the files are encrypted using a custom S3 encryption key, you can add the encryption key to the files. To add an encryption key for multiple files:
    1. Select your files and then click the Encryption Key icon next to the Search field. Optionally, click the Encryption Key icon next to a file to add an encryption key for that specific file.

    2. Specify the custom S3 encryption key.
    3. Click Add Key.
    4. Click Download.
  6. Select the data fields to import to your space, and then click Done.
  7. After downloading your files, you can use the Import S3 Connector Data button to extract your information.
  8. To make changes to the selected files or append files, click Edit. For information on appending files, see Appending Files to S3 Data Sources.
Note: You can safely log out of Birst while the extraction takes place and log back in later.
