Running a BQL Query in Query Admin
Space Administrators can test the SQL generation, query navigation plan, and query results of BQL queries for Live Access spaces.
If you have established a Live Access real time connection for the space, you see a Generate Query button. You can generate a physical query against your Live Access database.
To run or navigate a BQL query
1. | Go to Admin - Define Sources - Query Admin. |
2. | On the Query
Admin page enter a logical query into the text box. Tip: You can copy a report query by opening a report in Designer or Visualizer. |
3. | Do one of the following: |
Click Run Query to see the results of the query. Review the results in the results box or copy it out to a text editor. This is useful for testing variable definitions as well as the metadata setup.
Click Navigate Query to run the internal query navigator and display an explanation of the navigation into the results box. See Reading Query Navigation Results for a description of the navigation results.
Click Generate Query to generate a physical query against a Live Access database. This enables you to test the SQL that will be generated and issued against your database. This button is only available if you have established a Live Access real time connection for the space.
