Adding a Subreport to a Classic Designer Report
One or more reports can be embedded within another Designer report.
A report embedded inside another report is referred to as a subreport.
Subreports are useful when combining data from different sources that have no common dimensions.
To add a subreport to a report

1.

Open the Layout
tab in Classic Designer. |

2.

Click Add - Subreport. The Subreport Properties dialog opens. |

3.
|
Click Browse to specify a new subreport. The Report Location dialog
opens. |

4.
|
Select the
report to embed as a subreport then click Open. The name of the selected
report displays in the Subreport Properties dialog. |

5.
|
Check
Take Value from Parent Query when
you want the subreport to inherit and apply filters from the parent report.

Click Save. A box representing
the report will appear on the canvas designated with an s:
in the top left corner and containing the name of the report. For example:

Drag the subreport
element to position it the way you want. |
|
8.
|
To change
the size and position of the subreport, right-click the subreport and
select Size and Position then modify the settings.
Tip: It is recommended that you set the Stretch
Type for subreports to No Stretch. |

9.
|
Click the
Results tab to see how it looks in the report. |
Tips:
To remove
a subreport, right-click the subreport and select Remove.
To change
the report to use, right-click the subreport and select Subreport Properties,
then click Browse.
