Checking the Application Advice of an ASN message

In the detail view of the Manage Messages page, you can review and check the Application Advice for a previously published ASN message. The user receives an alert message in these cases: An Application Advice reports an error on the previous ASN message or the defined waiting time for the Application Advice is exceeded. You can check the reason for the alert to solve the issue and correct the corresponding ASN message.

To check the Application Advice of a previously published ASN message:

  1. Select Transformation > Manage Messages.
  2. Select one of these options from the Application Advice Received? drop-down list:
    • Not Expected: Published ASN message for which an Application Advice is not expected. The message is checked against the setting of the Application Advice Expected field on the Partner IDs page.
    • Pending: Published ASN message for which an Application Advice is expected. The status of the ASN message is Pending after the transformation, if the Application Advice Expected field on the Partner IDs page is set to Expected.
    • Received: Published ASN message for which an Application Advice has been received without reporting errors. The transformation set process has been successfully completed.
    • Alerted: Published ASN message for which an alert message has been sent to the user in these cases:

      An Application Advice has been received that reports errors on a previously sent ASN message.

      An Application Advice message is expected, but the defined waiting time on the Partner IDs page has been exceeded.

    Specify further search terms such as Document ID or Transmission Reference No. to restrict the filtered list of messages.

  3. Click the Drill down button of an ASN message for which an alert message exists.
    The detail view of the Manage Messages page opens.
  4. To display the content of the Application Advice that has been received for the ASN message, click Application Advice.

  5. Review this information:
    Application Acknowledgment Type
    The Application Acknowledgment Type provides feedback on the validity of the previously sent ASN messages:
    • Transaction Set Accepted: The EDI transaction has been accepted.
    • Transaction Set Accepted with Errors: The EDI transaction includes errors, but has been accepted. The errors should be investigated and a solution provided to avoid future shipment issues.
    • Transaction Set Rejected: The EDI transaction has been rejected. The corresponding ASN message should be corrected and sent again to the customer.
    • Item Accepted with Error: The item information of the previously sent ASN message includes errors, but has been accepted. The errors should be investigated and a solution provided to avoid future shipment issues.
    • Item Rejected: The item information of the previously sent ASN message has been rejected. The corresponding ASN message should be corrected and sent again to the customer.
    Original Document Number
    The original document number of the ASN message.
    Original Document Type
    The original document type can be a Shipment or an Invoice.
    Note: The document type Invoice is currently not supported.
    Original Document Date
    The creation date/time of the corresponding ASN message.
    Transaction Number
    The transaction number that is used by the original ASN message.
    Document ID
    The field shows the document number of the original ASN message.
  6. Review the Application Advice Reference list:
    Error Description Code
    The error description code that has been mutually defined between supplier and customer.
    Error Description
    Short description of the error.
    Error Data
    The incorrect data.
    Note Reference Code
    Additional information about the error code.
    Note Reference Data Description
    Additional information about the incorrect data.
