Message Processing Rules

On the Message Processing Rules page, you can create, edit, copy, and delete message processing rules.

In a message processing rule, you register the supported message types and message subtypes of incoming release orders from a customer. The message type is Planning Schedule or Shipment Schedule. A message processing rule is used to identify the message subtype of a message type. The message type is set before according to the BOD type of the release order. Requirements of the incoming release orders and the requirements of the existing single plans are calculated and integrated in a new combined plan. The calculation of requirements is performed according to the message type and message subtype.

You can configure the settings for the replacement or combination of requirements that are summarized in the combined plan. The settings are configured for the message types and message subtypes of messages that are exchanged between supplier and customer.

These are examples of message processing rules:

  • Planning schedule requirements are replaced by shipment schedule requirements.
  • Planning schedule requirements that have the same requirement date are replaced.
  • Shipment schedule requirements are added to the planning schedule requirements.
  • Daily schedules replace weekly and monthly schedules. Remaining weekly or monthly quantities must be calculated.

The requirement date that is sent by the customer is interpreted as the arrival date or the pick-up date. This can be configured for each message type and message subtype.

Requirements of release orders that are evaluated and assigned to the message types according to this configuration are usually processed automatically. Sometimes the requirements of an incoming release order must be checked before they are processed. You can define that the requirements must be approved manually on the Unprocessed Plans page. Additionally, you can define how the requirements of the current release order are compared with the requirements of the previous release order. The release orders must have the same message type.

The message processing rule is checked and applied during the combining of plans.
