Roles and menus of Release Management

A predefined hierarchy of roles exists for each functional area of the application. A role that is defined on a hierarchy level includes the permissions of roles on its subordinate hierarchy levels. A hierarchy level can include roles to access menu groups and menu items. This hierarchy of roles is defined for Release Management:

For example: The SRMAdmin role includes the permissions of the roles on hierarchy level 2, 3, 4, and 5. This role grants full access to view contracts, shipments, and plans, to manage plans, and to define the processing rules in Release Management.

A role that is assigned to a user in the Security Administration grants access to menu items or menu groups of the functional areas. This table shows some examples of the permissions that are assigned to standard roles of Release Management:

Note: To individually assign roles to Release Management users, consider assigning the required menu group roles that have the suffix "Group" in their names. For example, you assign the role SRMMaintainPlanSched to a user who manages planning schedules. This user should also have the role SRMConfigurationGroup that grants access to the menu group Configuration.
