Message ID examples

The qualifiers or tags that identify the sender ID and the receiver ID in a message are specified in three positions for each communication partner.

These are the positions for qualifiers of the message standard VDA:

  • Position 1: Record type, first three characters of a line, for example, 511
  • Position 2: Offset from. .
  • Position 3: Offset to.

These are the positions for qualifiers of the message standards UN-EDIFACT or ODETTE:

  • Position 1: Segment, for example, UNB.
  • Position 2: Group.
  • Position 3: Element.

These are the positions for qualifiers of the message standard XML:

  • Position 1: XML sender ID tag/receiver ID tag.
  • Position 2: XML sender ID tag/receiver ID tag.
  • Position 3: XML sender ID tag/receiver ID tag.
